Safety Policies

Welcome to South Elm Kids! We exist to provide a loving, nurturing and safe environment for all children and to partner with parents, caregivers and the church body to train and equip children to: know Christ, love Christ, live for Christ, and share Christ. All of this is built on South Elm Street Baptist Church’s core values to reach, equip, care and send.

We know security is important to you and it is important to us as well. That is why we do yearly background checks on all our volunteers. All volunteers are also required to do a volunteer training every year.

When you bring your baby or toddler to the nursery, you will be given a pager just in case there is an emergency and we need to get ahold of you during service. Only the person with the pager is able to pick the child up after service.

All other children are assigned a tag/sticker with a number on it, an identical tag/sticker is given to the person who drops the child off. You must have the matching tag/sticker to pick the child up.

Please let teachers know if your child has any allergies.

Other tips:

  • For safety reasons, no one under the age of 16 will be allowed to pick up a child.

  • Children can be taken to classrooms 10 minutes prior to the start of each session. Please try not to come before then so that teachers have time to set up.

  • If there are no children present 15 minutes after a scheduled event starts, the teachers/volunteers may leave and go participate in the service or event.

  • To minimize separation anxiety, parents are encouraged to say goodbye and leave quickly. They won’t cry long!
